Why is Diabetic Retinal Screening Important?

Fundus photography - photography of the inside of the back of the eye -- has been shown to be an efficient and accurate method to detect diabetic retinal changes. After reading of these photographs, patients who have diabetic retinopathy can be refered to an ophthalmologist for the management and care of their eyes.
